Lotus 7 Series II.

Alan's first real car purchased @ the age of 19 and almost impossible to insure at the time. He sold a special motorcycle (Norton Manx framed, tuned Triumph Bonneville engined stunner)  he built to buy it. He kept it for 5 years and extensively modified it over the time. He won several motoring championships.

Powered by a Martin/Ford 1.5 litre engine and extensively improved suspension including changing the cheap single front upper link/roll-bar combination for a proper wishbone ('A' arm) and similarly replacing the rear lower 'A' frame (which regularly split the diff housing) with a Mallock inspired twin trailing arm and low Pannard rod arrangement. Plus 8" Minilight wheels and Firestone competition tyres.
